Terms of service

These terms apply when you use gorefugia.com, create an account, run reports or buy credits or a plan. By creating an account or buying, you agree to them. They are written to be read; if anything is unclear, write to us.

1. Who we are

Refugia is a company registered in Israel, 165 Allenby Street, Tel Aviv, Israel. In these terms, “we” means that company and “you” means the person using Refugia.

2. Your account

  • You need to be at least 18 to create an account and buy.
  • Use a real email address you can read: receipts, finished reports and password resets go there.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account; tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
  • One person per account. Accounts are not to be shared or resold.

3. What a report is, and is not

A report scores one point on Earth against public data and, for the research sections, AI research agents that read public sources. Scores compare places with each other. They are not predictions of what will happen at a place, and they are not professional advice: not engineering, surveying, legal, insurance, financial, medical or emergency advice.

Data can be missing, out of date or wrong, and AI research can misread a source. Every report shows its sources and how sure it is, so you can check what matters to you. Do not rely on a report alone for decisions about safety, property, money or health; check with qualified people and official sources, and always follow the instructions of local authorities in an emergency.

4. Credits and prices

  • Reports are paid for with credits. Current prices are on the pricing page; the price of a report, including any scenarios you add, is shown before you start it.
  • Credits are charged when a report starts. If a report fails, its credits come back automatically; if part of its research cannot finish, the share for that research comes back.
  • Credits do not expire while your account is open. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred and are not refunded when unused except as the refund policy says.
  • Credits given free (beta codes, promotions) can be withdrawn if they were obtained by misuse, for example through several accounts.

5. Monitoring plans

  • A plan watches the places you choose for live hazards and, on plans that include it, checks their scores weekly. It renews every month and is charged until you cancel.
  • Cancel any time under Manage plan on your dashboard. The plan stays active until the end of the month you paid for; credits it already gave you stay yours.
  • Alerts depend on outside services (earthquake, fire, flood and weather feeds) and on email delivery. We do our best to send them promptly, but they can be late or missed, and a plan is not an emergency warning service.

6. Payments through Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle’s buyer terms apply to the payment itself; prices may include or be shown with taxes that depend on where you live.

7. Refunds

Unused credits can be refunded within 14 days of purchase, and a first plan payment within 14 days if its credits are unused. The details are in the refund policy. Nothing in these terms takes away refund rights the law of your country gives you.

8. Fair use

Please do not:

  • copy the site, the map layers or reports in bulk, or scrape them, or resell reports as your own service;
  • try to get into other people's accounts or reports, or test the service's security without our written agreement;
  • overload the service, get around limits, or use more than one account to get free credits;
  • use Refugia to break the law or to harm, track or target other people.

We may suspend accounts that do, after telling you why where we can.

9. Your reports and our content

Your reports are private to your account. You may use, print and share the reports you paid for, for your own purposes and with the people you choose. The site, its design, scoring method, texts and map layers belong to us or to the sources we credit; they are not licensed for reuse beyond that.

10. Data sources and scenarios

Reports draw on public datasets and services (listed in each report and in the methodology), each under its own licence and with its own limits. Theoretical scenarios model contested or speculative theories (for example a crust shift or a solar micronova) under stated assumptions. They are not science we endorse and not forecasts; they show how a place would fare if a theory were right.

11. Liability

Refugia is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for decisions made on the basis of a report, or for loss caused by data sources, outside services or events outside our control, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer.

12. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Refugia at any time and ask us to delete your account by writing to hello@gorefugia.com. We may close accounts that break these terms; if we close an account for any other reason, we refund its unused paid credits.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. For a change that matters, we tell you by email at least 14 days before it applies. Using Refugia after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, you can close your account and get unused paid credits back.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Israel, and the courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring a claim where you live. Please write to us first; most problems are solved by email.
